With so many complaints from those around us regarding the “state of the world” let us NOT forget everything that we have to be grateful for! each day we are all presented with blessings all around us. If we change the way we look at our lives, our lives will surely change. How do you view each day - as partly cloudy, or partly sunny? Today, look around you. Today, smile, even if it’s only on the inside. It will trickle out, if you allow it to. We all have the same hours in each day, days in each week, and so on. Make a choice, a positive choice and re-invent yourself. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change . . .

Hello to All!!! Just have to say that we are missing all of our lovely friends at the Milwaukee Irish Fest. Due to circumstances (blah, blah, blah) we were unable to attend this year’s festival. We hope to be back next year. So, in the mean time we are happy to oblige aith any special requests you may have. Write us at info@moonandstar.com or give us a call at Home Base - 815/786-7064. Actually, the only festival that we are attending this year is right here in Sandwich. It’s the Sandwich Fair, held Sept. 9th - the 13th. It’s a pretty large county fair with lots to do and see. This is our 14th year vending in the Arts and Crafts demonstration building. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. - at least 9:00 p.m., and Sunday until 6:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!

And, in the mean time - Mindful Conversations meets the 3rd Sunday of each month at the shop, from 6:30 - 8:00. Please join us for meaningful discussions with a wonderfully diverse group of open-minded and interesting individuals. We close with a Healing Circle.

We are offering a Prayer Bead Workshop on Sunday, July 19th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Prayer Beads have been used as tools to converse with the Divine throughout history by many, many cultures. You will learn a brief history of Prayer Beads, via handouts and mini-lecture. Workshop includes a wide variety of beads, metals and other components, stringing material, and use of tools. You may bring your own items that you may incorporate into your designs, if you llike. Cost for class is $45. Please call with questions or to register! Hope to see you soon.

On June 2 we celebrated our 17th year of business! WOW! Moon & Star has certainly gone through a lot of changes. Haven’t we all? Most importantly I would like to thank all of you for being a part of the Moon & Star family. Those of you who read these blogs have taken time to observe our “evolution”. For now we will continue to keep the shop open on Saturdays from 10 - 5, or by appointment. Our utmost vision regards the Peace and well-being of our loved ones - including YOU!

Many of you are aware that I have been involved with the healing arts. Since 2004 I have practiced Reiki. Just recently I have begun teaching this beautiful modality. I welcome your thoughts and questions. We gather monthly for Mindful Conversations. The third Sunday evening of each month, from 6:30 - 8:00, to discuss timely topics, enjoy one another’s company, sharing tea and closing with a prayerful healing circle. Please join us, as you are able. Just bring an open mind and an open heart. Also, many of us have been meeting for Tai Chi practice on Wednesday eveings from 6:30 - 8:00 at he Old Second Bank, located on Rt. 34 in Plano (just east of the TimberCreek Hotel & Convention Center. Enter through the main door of the bank, look to your left to see the stairwell. Downstairs is the Plano Chamber of Commerce Office. This is where we will be! All are welcome.

Soon we hope to be offering some very interesting activities. Have you ever heard of a Gong Bath? Look it up on line. Stay “tuned” for more information. By the way, we would love to hear from you with your ideas. Call or e-mail.

Here it is the end of another year. Can you believe it? This next one ends in the number 9, which in a numerology sense, reminds us of completion. What does that mean? Hopefully as we journey through this coming year we will come to a close of so many challenges and open doors to many wonderful new opportunities. My New Year’s wish for you is the best of health (physical, mental and spiritual), much prosperity and abundance (not just financial, either!), and for all of you to be blessed with God’s love and Peace each and every day, and to spread that love and light wherever you are!  Please join us for our annual Holiday Event on Saturday, Dec. 6th from 10 - 5. Each year has a little bit different “flavor”. This year we focus on a “Clean Point of View”, featuring some beautiful hand made, environmentally happy personal care products, including soaps and body brushes from some impressive manufacturers. Our Enchanted Trees are still available, but supply is very limited due to their great price points!

It’s my favorite time of year, and you need to visit us in the cozy lower level, to take a look at some of our “Fallish” creations. Especially mindfully designed and created from Mark’s recycled glass stash, we have a lovely selection of Jewelry pieces - earrings and necklaces, simple and ornate. I have been carefully selecting individual pieces of softly matted glass in yummy colors, wire wrapping each and stringing with fresh water pearls, gemstones, wood and marvelous metals. Come in and see for yourself! Betty Bat will soon be sporting her own pair of stylish earrings. She has become our mascot - lovingly, of course… With the teeter-totter of the economy our hours have been fluctuating a bit.
